An online shopping cart can either be a stand alone web site in its own right or one that you link to from your current web site and has the same colours and look as your original site.
You will build your shop after choosing a template, color and fonts online. i.e. you sign into your account and start editing your shop(s) which includes uploading images from your computer, typing in descriptive text, setting prices and so on. Rather than your shop sitting on your site and server (which would be the case if you were using shopping cart software) the shop sits on the server of the online shopping cart provider and you link to it.
The online shopping carts I recommend here allows those who have few or any web building skills to set up a professional online shop very easily it is also useful for shops that allow input from more than one individual from different locations and computers and so changes (to prices for example) can be made ‘on the fly’.
Charges are generally monthly for use of the online building and hosting and have dropped considerably over the last couple of years and the options that you have have increased which is good news for web shopkeepers!
